Fall 2007/Spring 2008 seasons
Recreational Program registration for Fall 2007 is still open. Contact the Registrar for details. Advanced Program registration is conducted only at tryouts.
Registration forms for the Advanced and Recreational Programs are all located online in the Forms area of the website (click on the Forms button from the home page or from the link at left). Advanced and Recreational forms are different. Please ensure that you complete the correct forms. Recreational Program forms are also available at both Libraries and at CB Fox. Advanced Program forms are available only at tryouts. A description of each registration process follows.
Recreational Program registration. Registration for the 2007-08 full seasonal year is open to all children born between 1 August 1988 and 31 July 2003. Registrations for the full seasonal year postmarked between 14 July and 20 July will be accepted on a space-available basis only and are subject to a late fee. Extensions are granted until 1 Aug 07 for newcomers moving to Los Alamos after 13 July 2007. (Spring-only 2008 registration starts from about Jan 1 and runs until 1 Feb 08.) Registration materials are available at both the Los Alamos and White Rock branches of Mesa Public Library, and CB Fox. For 2007-08, the age groups are:
- U5 August 1, 2002 - July 31, 2003
- U6 August 1, 2001 - July 31, 2002
- U7/U8 August 1, 1999 - July 31, 2001
- U9/U10 August 1, 1997 - July 31, 1999
- U11/U12 August 1, 1995 - July 31, 1997
- U13/U14 August 1, 1993 - July 31, 1995
- U16/19 August 1, 1988 - July 31, 1993
Remember we are always looking for volunteers to make this league a success. With about 700+ children registered, it takes a lot of effort to bring everything together. A shortage of referees and coaches makes it very hard to keep everyone happy. If you want your child to have a fun-filled soccer season, please think about volunteering your time. Training is provided.

Advanced Program registration (Lynn Murrell, Registrar, 672-9633). Registration for Advanced Program teams can ONLY be done during tryouts. 2007-08 tryouts for LAYSL advanced teams U-11 through U-14 are scheduled and can be found under the Advanced button of the LAYSL website. Supplemental tryouts are held in the Spring for the older age groups. See the Advanced Program page for specific dates, and check the Los Alamos Monitor or the website for specific times and field locations for your age groups. Currently, boys and girls with birth dates between August 1, 1993 - July 31, 1997 are eligible to try out. For 2007-08, the age groups are:
- U-11 August 1, 1996 - July 31, 1997
- U-12 August 1, 1995 - July 31, 1996
- U-13 August 1, 1994 - July 31, 1995
- U-14 August 1, 1993 - July 31, 1994
Fall practice starts in mid-August with league games running from the beginning of September through October. Spring practice starts in mid-February with league games running from the beginning of March through April. Tournaments are played throughout the year and can extend the season in either direction. Registration forms will be handed out by coaches at the end of tryouts. All Advanced Program forms, documentation, and fees were due to the coach as dictacted in the instructions found in the pdf Forms Button on that part of the LAYSL website. This included:
- LAYSL registration form
- NMYSA registration form
- Original birth certificate
- Current picture - 1"x1" face shot
- Check for $85 made payable to LAYSL
If you do not have an original birth certificate, and you think your child may want to try out, make arrangements to get his or her birth certificate now. You will probably need to contact the Health Department in the county in which your child was born. It can take a while to get a birth certificate, so start now. You must have the birth certificate before the end of tryouts in order to register your child for an advanced team. Late fee for incomplete paperwork or missing forms is $35.
If your player is planning to "dual roster" in order to participate on both an Advanced Program team and a Recreational Program team, a complete set of registrations materials must be submitted for each program (only the advanced program fee is to be paid).
If your child is not selected for an Advanced Program team, you can sign your child up for the Recreational Program. Recreational Program registration forms are available at both branches of Mesa Public Library.
