Approval of Agenda
John made a motion to approve the agenda with the following additions
Rich
seconded the motion. The
Motion was passed unanimously.
Review of previous meetingÕs minutes
Dean informed the board that the distributed minutes were from JanuaryÕs board meeting.
FebruaryÕs board meeting did not have a quorum.
John made a motion to accept the minutes. Paul seconded the motion. The Motion was passed unanimously.
Karl distributed the Financials as of April 25, 2005. Chad asked about Computer and Coaching Income and Karl informed the board that Glad Bugariu had bought the Laptop that LAYSL had purchased for him for $800 and the coaching income was for the Laser 91. Amy had questions about the equipment expense.
After some discussion John moved to accept the Treasurer Report and Paul seconded the Motion. The Motion was passed unanimously.
Shelly mentioned they had 6 late registrations for the spring.
The board discussed uniforms and going back to reversible uniforms. Karl was going to check with CB Fox to see if we could get quality reversibles.
There was also a lengthy discussion on earlier registration. Shelly and Amy were going to work getting a flier out to the schools and Dean would provide them with a list of how many children are at each school.
The board also decided to continue to give a $5 discount per player for early registration.
Amy talked going to 8v8 for u-10 and above.
We also need to clean the White Rock locker.
Advanced Team Coordinator
We will have try-out for Girls and Boys U-11 through U-14 and U-10 if we have enough interest.
Joanne handed out a Call for Coaches letter.
Try-outs would be the week of May 16th and we would have make up dates on May 23rd and May 25.
Since there is no deadline for YTS, it was decided not to have a call for YTS coaches. We also discussed using the YTS for the recreational program.
Referees
Chad said that there would be a Grade 8 clinic on May 14th and a Grade 9th clinic on May 22.
Equipment
Paul talked about securing the goals, and he is going to order new sandbags to ensure that the goals do not get blown over.
All teams are fully equipped.
Fields
Rich asked for information on whom to contact. Debbie Jo Almager was mentioned for the County, Dick McIntyre for maintenance of the County fields and Tom Littleton for maintenance of the schoolÕs fields.
Field space for the fall will be decided at a Parks and Rec meeting in July. Parks and Rec is currently working on identifying all the different clubs in Los Alamos County and their field needs.
The Non-profit status of the other clubs was discussed.
There was some discussion on creating a subcommittee and also potential work credit hours.
We discussed how important it is to stay off the fields when the County states that the fields are not playable. The County updates their website daily to inform us if the fields are open or closed. Also, each field has a sign stating if the field is open or closed.
Customer Satisfaction Survey
The Board discussed using ÒSurvey MonkeyÓ or we could include the survey with the registration package.
The survey package would be completed by May 20th and it will include questions like price, playing with friends, YTS characteristics and areas of strength within LAYSL
We would continue the discussion through e-mail
Amy mentioned that she would send out coaching evaluations to recreational coaches on recreational players.
The Board suggested that Joanne contact Carlos Casias to see if he would be interested in staying with LAYSL instead of joining NNMSC
NNMSC offered professional coaches, while LAYSL offered mostly parent coaches. The Board did not see any benefits by having professional coaches versus parent coaches.
Since the Library will be closed for renovation, the next meeting would be held somewhere else other than the Library. Los Alamos Public Schools room and LANB were mentioned.
We have to ensure that we publish the new time and place on the website.
It was also decided that a recording secretary would be wonderful and the potential recording secretary would receive a free LAYSL registration fee for 1 player.
No Soccer Camps or other events will be published on the LAYSL website unless it is a LAYSL sponsored event.
Meeting was adjourned at 8:42 p.m.
