Minutes of the
LAYSL Monthly Board Meeting
August 23, 2004

Paul Jackson called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m.
Review of previous meetingŐs minutes

Minutes were reviewed by Board Members. Some minor amendments to the minutes
were called-out
Bruce Barraclough formally
made the Motion to approve the amended Minutes. Bill Flor seconded the Motion. The Motion was passed unanimously.
YTS Needs
- Fields: After 9/11/04, the WR Sat. a.m.,
early p.m., Overlook Park fields to be available for YTS. Jon Schoonover will adjust his
scheduling needs as necessary.
- Registration
Numbers: 76 children in YTS.
- Income
from Registration Numbers: 76
children of which 7 childrenŐs fees are waived for a total revenue of
$8,360 - $725 (for 7 children).
- A
request will be presented to Mike Wyman to put together a practice
schedule for posting coordinating with high school soccer needs.
- Molly
requested that $2,700 go to Capitol Soccer Club for registration plus $300
subsidized for uniforms.
Karl Hjelvik formally made the Motion to pay $2,700
in fees to Capitol Soccer Club out of the YTS registration fees, and an
additional $300 for subsidizing uniforms.
Bruce Barraclough seconded the Motion. The Motion was passed unanimously.
- There
was some discussion/questions on the Capitol Soccer Club costs, which
included paying for referees, field rentals and goals.
- On
the issue of goals, there was discussion that the YTS goals were lent to
us by Capitol Soccer Club.
- It
would be worthwhile to go through our equipment stock.
ACTION ITEM: Paul
Langan: How many and which goals
are available? Which belong to
LAYSL, and which belong to Capitol Soccer Club?
Uniforms
- The
uniforms were ordered with the Albuquerque House of Soccer. Uniform colors were chosen by Rec.
coaches, so every team has a different color. Socks will match jersey that they have. Cost was $22/player, and delivery
is about 1-2 weeks.
- For
U10, YL and YM sizes ordered.
- It
was discussed that if uniforms are purchased as was done this year,
perhaps parents can indicate uniform sizes on the registration form. Sleeve will have LANB logo; on
front jersey will be LAYSL logo.
Bill Flor mentioned that logo is available in monochrome, and heŐll
send this to House of Soccer.
- No
extras were ordered, but more can be ordered later.
Blast-Off Tournament
- Vicky
Longmire discussed at length specifics for Blast Off Tournament that need
to be worked out. Fields
arranged already. Schedule of
games available, and will be provided for LAYSL website.
- Bruce
Barraclough concerned on availability of obtaining referees with a late
notice (less than 1 week notice).
- Discussed
that North Mesa fields not available due to non-LAYSL soccer club
training. Fields available
are Spirio 3 and Dara Jones, Pueblo, and Community Field.
- Fields
still need to be lined.
- Goals
need to be moved into place as well.
- Require
Field Marshalls as well.
- Competitive
Coaches need to be contacted to bring their own first aid kit.
- Need
disclaimer about games being played and lightening storms affecting
ability to play all games if games are stopped.
- To
attract referees will offer the following: $20.00/game/referee for 1st 3 games. Thereafter it is $30/game.
Rec. Soccer
- 9/30/04
is first practice
- Schedules
need to be sent to coaches and referees.
- Will
inquire with Mike Wyman re: scheduling of fields and determining
volunteers to line fields; also need help with moving goals.
- Regarding
Junior High Program: possibly
ask for permission to have information booth during orientation to get
signups for this program.
Equipment
- No
other ssues discussed.
Other
- Need
disclosure forms filled-out; available on NMYSA.
- For
all advanced coaches, these need to be filled out unless coach has a
security clearance already.
