Thanks to everyone for getting your registrations in. We are working on creating the teams for this spring. It is still not too late to get on a team, but you will have to jump through a couple of extra hoops. We have a tentative schedule made for the spring, but I have a feeling that the amounts of snow in Los Alamos are going to affect it.

The spring schedule looks like:

Mar 15 - Coaches notified of team rosters and should contact parents shortly there after (web site updated as well)
Mar 22 - Practice starts (if the snow melts)
Apr 9 - First weekend for games (if the snow melts)
May 22 - Last weekend for games

On a side note, the county keeps changing their web site (so does weather.com). We are going to make every effort to get the widgets working.

» CONGRATULATIONS KIXX '95

LAYSL had 7 competitive teams go up to Durango over Mother's Day weekend and represented the town of Los Alamos exemplarily. All teams played hard and had a great time. Many of the teams that played our kids expressed not just our quality, but our sportsmanship was great to see. One team though walked away with 1st place awards. The Kixx '95 team won the title with 3 wins and 1 loss.

Congratulations to all the girls of the Kixx '95 team. A lot of these kids have played together since kindergaurden, and now that this team is headed up to the high school ranks, it is a great way to end this teams run. I also think the coaches need to be recognized. Thank you Dr. Ben Neal, Scott Phillips, Joan Ahlers, and Joanne Wendelberger for your hard work over the years working with this incredible group of kids.

The Los Alamos Youth Soccer League (LAYSL) is a non-profit organization, made entirely possible by volunteers. LAYSL operates under international, national, state and local rules, bylaws and guidelines. We are affiliated with the New Mexico Youth Soccer Association (NMYSA) and the United States Youth Soccer Association (USYSA). Our local bylaws were originally prepared in 1982. In addition, we have guidelines for both the recreational and competitive programs as well as local amended rules for Under-12 play.

The primary purpose of LAYSL is to provide a high-quality, safe, and fun opportunity for the youth of Los Alamos to grow as a soccer player and as a person. As players, they will learn individual skills, teamwork, and sportsmanship. As a person, kids will develop life skills, including responsibility, commitment, discipline, and fostering a spirit of community involvement.
