» Welcome to the LOS ALAMOS FOOTBALL CLUB

For as long as I can remember, Los Alamos teams have participated as Los Alamos Youth Soccer League down in the Duke City Soccer League. I am not sure how a league participates in a league. All the other teams come from clubs and participate in a league. So, the board has decided that the competitive program will become known as the Los Alamos Football Club.

We have also made the change to go to a single uniform style for all teams. This is to try and install a sense of pride and belonging to something greater than just their team. We hope to start and foster a sense of pride in Los Alamos and all the teams. The new logo (to the left) will be present on all team wear for the club. Teams had a choice to use their uniform from last year or go with the new uniforms. Next year, all club teams will use the new uniforms.

The LAYSL competitive program is the natural progression for players that want to test their skills at the highest level in New Mexico. Along with this increase level of play, comes a larger commitment from players and parents alike. The competitive program emphasizes player development over winning. Teams practice 2 or 3 times a week, with games at the Bernalillo Soccer Complex on Saturdays. Teams will often do a tournament in the Fall season as well as another in the spring. The registration cost is also higher. Fees include LAYSL registration costs, Duke City team fees, and individual team fees. All these fees are explained below.

Tryouts are held the week after Mother's Day in May for the following Fall and Spring seasons. The number of players that make a team are 14 or 18 kids, based on the age group. We also have the ability to create house players. These players do not take a roster spot, but can practice with the team, play in tournaments, and play in games when the team is short handed. Playing time is up to the coach's desecration. Attendance at practices, work ethic, and playing ability are contributing factors in how playing time is decided.

» Fees Explained

LAYSL Registration Fees
The 2010-2011 player fees is $250. These fees cover the cost of league insurance, league fees with New Mexico Youth Soccer, field maintenance with Los Alamos County, equipment stipend from the league for each team, operating costs for registering each player, Duke City team fees, one Fall tournament registration cost, and a uniform kit.

Duke City Team Fees
The team fees for the 2010-2011 season are $975.00. In the past, these team fees were paid equally by all team members. The last few seasons has seen some communication issues between Duke City and LAYSL, so all team registrations with Duke City will be handled through the league office. Part of your registration costs will go toward this fee.

Fall Tournament
To help out teams get ready for the upcoming season, LAYSL will use part of the registration fees to send your team to a Fall tournament. Where and which bracket you play is still up to the team coach. Just let the league office know the details, with ample time to get the check cut, and your team will be ready to compete.

Uniform Kit
Your registration cost will include the purchase of a uniform kit, which includes the LAYSL sanctioned home and away shirt, a pair of shorts, and socks.

Equipment Stipend
Your team gets an allowance to get new equipment every year. Some years will be greater than others because of the years where kids move to a larger size ball and larger roster. There is a deadline to get your equipment requests in, so make sure your coach gets that in.
